SETUP

  • What's needed for me to get started?

    CHQ recognizes and understands that building and managing a successful website and digital footprint is not in the comfort zone of most contractors!  We commit to using each contractor's time effectively and efficiently. 

    8 Week Onboarding Process broken down into 2 4-week sessions:

            Session 1: Website Production Onboarding - 4 Weeks 

            Session 2: Digital Brand Management Onboarding - 4 Weeks 

    Each session, the contractor commits to 1 hour per week for 4 weeks:  

            1. 4 scripted ½ hour sessions scheduled at the same time/day each week for information intake.

            2. An additional ½ hour each week outside of meetings to track down accounts, files and the like.

  • How do contractor websites help generate leads?

    While a website alone doesn’t guarantee leads, it’s a critical part of your overall online presence. A well-built contractor website helps you establish credibility, earn trust from local customers, and send strong authority signals to Google. Over time, this foundation supports your SEO efforts, making it easier to rank in search results when potential clients look for services like “AC repair near me” or “licensed plumber in [city].” It’s the first step toward building a steady stream of inbound interest.

  • How long will my website take?

    4-8 weeks depending on what each contractor brings to the kick off meeting. Some have no content written and no images to use.  In these cases, it generally pushes to the 8 week timeframe.  With some content and organized accounts, this can progress much faster.

  • Do I need a blog on my HVAC/plumbing website?

    Yes. Blogging is one of the best ways to rank for long-tail keywords like “how often should I replace my air filter” or “best thermostat for Florida homes.” We write SEO-optimized blog posts each month that answer common customer questions, improve authority, and give Google new content to index—keeping your site fresh and relevant.

  • Do we own the custom website you build?

    You will own the content that we help you create, access to all of the accounts we build together, the URLs of the website, any images that you provide, and rights to those images that we license.  The value of a website build is equivalent to the lead generation that is produced from the website.  And the search engine juice is tied to the content and URL structure.  With our No Hassles Guarantee, you will maintain control of everything that you have the rights to. 

  • How fast should my contractor website load?

    Google recommends that websites load in under 3 seconds, especially on mobile devices. A slow-loading site frustrates users and hurts your rankings. We use high-performance hosting and image optimization to make sure your contractor site loads quickly and passes Google’s Core Web Vitals metrics for speed and usability.

  • Will my website be mobile friendly?

    Oh yes.  CHQ uses a modular website development platform which was built for mobile.  This mobile first approach takes advantage of responsive design techniques to ensure the right experience for a website visitor based on the device they use to access your website. 

  • Do I have to provide my own images?

    Ideally, every website would have images that are specific to the contractor, their business, the branding on the trucks, and the local community.  For the Foundations Website build, CHQ will use whatever the contractor has, we will fill in with stock photography for the rest.  Our ideal scenario, we would set up a local photo shoot at your place of business with staff and trucks available. A half day photo shoot with editing usually costs several hundred dollars but not thousands.  

  • How long does it take for SEO to work for a contractor business?

    Most local contractors start seeing ranking improvements within 12 months, depending on competition and consistency. SEO is a long-term investment, not a quick fix—but our clients often see improvements within the first few months through on-page SEO, blog content, and Google Business Profile optimization. Again, we do not promise or gauarnetee leads or ranking. 

  • Why is SEO important for home service contractors?

    SEO helps you show up when people search for services you offer in your local area. Without SEO, your site might look great but never get found. We follow all of Google’s best practices—like optimizing page titles, adding schema, internal linking, and publishing location-targeted blogs—to help your contractor business rank higher and attract more local leads.

  • How do I track calls or leads from my site?

    We use Invoca call tracking and AgencyAnalytics dashboards to give you a complete view of how your site is performing. Every call, form fill, and quote request can be tracked by source, and you get a live dashboard plus a monthly strategy call to review what’s working and what to improve.

  • What is digital marketing?

    Whatever you call it (digital marketing, online marketing, internet marketing, etc), it all amounts to the same thing.  The web is where consumers get their information, find services, and choose vendors to work with.  It all starts with a consistent display of your brand on your website, your local directories, social media profiles, and anything that has your brand associated with it.  After you get all of that set up, in proper order, and under your control, you can then invest in marketing/advertising through these digital channels that you have created.  Marketing activities like: writing blog posts, getting backlinks to your website, soliciting reviews by your customers, posting/engaging on social media, working with local directory websites are just as start.  After that, you can consider Pay Per Click marketing, Facebook advertising and post boosting, display marketing, retargeting, paid lead websites, and much more.  On top of that, you can drive off line marketing (print ads, door hangers, direct mail, tv, radio) to your digital platforms for conversion.  All of this is part of digital marketing.  These more advanced and paid marketting efforts should only be deployed once a great foundation has been created and tracking/metrics are in place. 

  • What verticals do you serve in the contracting industry?

    Over the years, Gary and Andrew have worked with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors of all shapes and sizes. We also work with specializations such as Solar, Indoor Air Quality, Water Heaters, garage doors, windows/doors, appliances, new construction, remodelling, the works.  

  • I'm a start up. Can you help me?

    We love startups!  All great contracting businesses have to start somewhere.  Our Foundations Membership Levels provide a high quality digital presence at a price point that even startup contractors can afford.  At just $3,600 per year and a minimum marketing budget of 3% of gross revenue, Foundations is a great value for contractors that are just opening your doors.  And for already established contractors, CHQ is able to secure and build upon existing online investments to ensure long term success, management by metrics, and massive increased in the value/appraisal of a website presence.

  • I'm not an HVAC contractor, can you still help me?

    Our speciality is in the trades.  That is our expertise and we plan on focusing only on making contractors successful.  Our partner company, SWIM.systems is positioned to help all kinds of businesses to achieve their online goals and build a digital presence that adds value to their business. 

  • What if I want different services?

    Members that join CHQ at either the Foundations level or at Foundations with SEO will then be eligible to add expanded online directories, reputation management, social media marketing, paid media, advanced SEO, chat services, service agreement programs, email marketing and the works.  

  • What if the service I need is not included in a membership package?

    After creating a great foundation at either Membership Level, we have a series of Premium Services that you can add on as a la carte one time or recurring services.  Just book a Discovery Call and one of our CHQ coordinators will help you get the services you need.

  • Do you offer other marketing services?

    Yes, we do!  Once a contractor meets all the Best Practices in the Foundations levels, we have advanced marketing services, add ons and other services to help grow the business in terms of lead gneration, customer communications, and operational support. 

  • Do you offer email hosting services?

    Email is the electronic lifeblood of most organizations.  Ensuring that you have a secure and reliable email service is critcal to short and long term success.  Some contractors have an IT company or resource they use for email.  Some will use a paid service such as G-suite/gmail or other hosted email service.  CHQ will help vet and manage email services to ensure the contractor is being protected but we do not offer email hosting services directly.  We'll be happy to help you get set up on G-suite for example. 

  • Will you do my social media?

    As part of the Fouundations Membership, we will ensure that you have claimed your online properties at the top 5 social media channels.  We will ensure that your contact ifnormation, business information and imagery is consistent with your digital brand.  After that, we can offer social media support through our Premium Services.  

  • Will I have access to the website/Can I update the website myself?

    Yes!  We do offer the ability for a contractor to directly edit their own website for content changes (words and pictures).  However, we will also make most updates of the website for free just by submitting the changes to one of CHQ coordinators and we'll ensure that the updates are completed quickly and consistently with your online brand.

  • I'm using a brand new website domain, how long will it take for me to benefit from SEO?

    SEO (search engine optimization) is the holy grail of lead generation - generally speaking, organic leads from search engines are the lowest cost per lead (CPL) that residential contractors experience.  Earning Organic SEO traffic over time takes consistent and steady management of a brand's online presence - trust is built by slowly and steadily seeding the marketplace of the search engines with your brand - your voice, your appearance, your content and your adherence to best practices.  Ongoing SEO tells the search engines that a website is not only a safe place but is the place that their local website searchers will get the answers and help they are looking for.  This is a process that is measured in months and years, not days and weeks.  

  • What if I need help down the road?

    As a contractor gets more advanced in their marketing approach, CHQ can provide additional Premium Services to help you meet your growth goals. If at any point, your needs exceeds the capabilities of CHQ, our sister company iMarket Solutions will be able to continue your growth to the next level.

  • What level of communication can I expect?

    During our 8 week onboarding process, we will establish a meeting rhythm together.  After launch, we can set a schedule for check-ins, reporting, and support that meets the needs of the contractor.  Our CHQ coordinator team responds to emails and contact forms quickly and we are available to meet through our online booking tool.  You will also be assigned a specific coordinator that you can email directly to as well.  

  • What are your support hours?

    We are available for support electronically from 8AM EST to 8PM EST.  

  • How do I get support outside of business hours?

    CHQ has Emergency Support available for all Foundations Memberships for when you need off hours support.  A priority email address and a phone number will be provided.

  • What if I'm unhappy with the service?

    Depending on whether or not you signed up for a 1 year agreement with a waived website set up fee, your membership will be month to month and you can cancel at any time.  With our No Hassles Guarantee, we will not hold your website or your digital brand hostage.  For any member in good financial standing, you can request to have CHQ removed from access to your website and accounts without trouble.  You will then have the option to maintain a SWIM Digital Asset Storage service or to download all the ingormation to your own systems for use. 

  • How do we terminate?

    Cancellation is as easy as sending an email to your CHQ coordinator to begin the process.  We want our contractors happy and successful.  If CHQ is not meeting your needs, we will help every step of the way to get your investments back under your direct control.

  • Do I have to commit for a year?

    CHQ has a $2,500 set up fee for Website Foundations ($3,500 for Website Foundations with SEO) that covers the cost of building the website and setting up your digital brand.  However, if you commit to the first year, CHQ will waive the set up fee.  After that first year, you can cancel whenever you want on a month to month basis.  Discounts for annual commitments may be available. 

  • Do the 2 membership levels come with a free domain name?

    Yes!  Your primary domain name will be managed and renewed by CHQ to ensure continuity of your website and to ensure that domain name problems won't be a problem.  Additional domains can be managed by CHQ but out of pocket costs will be passed on to the contractor. 

BILLING

  • When can I expect to be billed?

    CHQ has 2 billing cycles.  On or about the 5th and the 20th of each month, we process all payments.  Once the month has begun, we require at least 15 days before the next billing date to cancel. 

  • What does month-to-month mean?

    For all clients that are in good financial standing and have no past due balances, you can cancel membership with 15 days notice before the next billing date.

  • What forms of payment do you take?

    We process payments in advance of service using ACH (automated clearing house also know as bank to bank transfer) with both of our Membership levels.  For an additional $25 per month, we can process Membership fees using a major credit card.
